SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: I have FINALLY ran 13.1 miles in under 2 hours!!!
I’m finishing up week 9 of my 18 week marathon training plan. Week 9 is actually a “scale back” week (not sure if that is the politically correct term, but you know what I mean) and it calls for a half marathon on Sunday. Well, because we will be out of town again this weekend, and I couldn’t find any half marathons in the area, I decided to get my 13.1 miles in this morning. I went into this run knowing that I REALLY wanted to break 2 hours, and I knew I was definitely capable. I tried to get in the mindset of a half marathon, but it was a little challenging without all the spectators cheering me on. All I had were geese, bunnies, and dog walkers!
Throughout the run, I made sure to really focus on my pace. I knew that this was important if I wanted to reach my goal of a sub 2 hour half marathon. In all my races in the past, I’ve always gone out too fast, and I hit the wall by mile 10. I’ve definitely learned A LOT from all my previous races. As the miles kept ticking away, I was pretty confident that I would be able to achieve what I had set out to do!
I’ve completed 5 half marathons, and my goal has always been to simply finish. Now I’m finally ready to start setting bigger goals for myself to become a stronger and smarter runner!
Now it’s off to work! Enjoy your Thursday!!
