Half Marathon PR!!

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: I have FINALLY ran 13.1 miles in under 2 hours!!! Smile

I’m finishing up week 9 of my 18 week marathon training plan.  Week 9 is actually a “scale back” week (not sure if that is the politically correct term, but you know what I mean) and it calls for a half marathon on Sunday.  Well, because we will be out of town again this weekend, and I couldn’t find any half marathons in the area, I decided to get my 13.1 miles in this morning.   I went into this run knowing that I REALLY wanted to break 2 hours, and I knew I was definitely capable.  I tried to get in the mindset of a half marathon, but it was a little challenging without all the spectators cheering me on. All I had were geese, bunnies, and dog walkers!

Throughout the run, I made sure to really focus on my pace.  I knew that this was important if I wanted to reach my goal of a sub 2 hour half marathon.  In all my races in the past, I’ve always gone out too fast, and I hit the wall by mile 10.  I’ve definitely learned A LOT from all my previous races.  As the miles kept ticking away, I was pretty confident that I would be able to achieve what I had set out to do!

I’ve completed 5 half marathons, and my goal has always been to simply finish.  Now I’m finally ready to start setting bigger goals for myself to become a stronger and smarter runner!

Now it’s off to work! Enjoy your Thursday!!

Do you stick to a training plan when preparing for a race?

How do you reward yourself when you finish an awesome run!?

a beer ALWAYS tastes good after a long run! I never thought I would be able to break 2 hours… and if I can, you can!

I know what you mean about spectators! It makes such a difference. I miss the high fives on long training runs. I have been sticking to a plan for my half marathon next month. I didn’t last time and I know it’s going to make a huge difference!

Undeniably believe that which you stated.
Your favorite justification seemed to be at the web the
easiest factor to be aware of. I say to you, I definitely get
irked whilst folks think about concerns that they just don’t realize about.

You controlled to hit the nail upon the highest and also defined out the entire thing with no need side effect
, other people can take a signal. Will likely be again
    to get more. Thank you
